Justice for Migrant Women (J4MW) was created in 2014 by attorney and activist Mónica Ramírez who saw a need for a new, bolder vision for organizing and empowering migrant women workers, including farmworkers, to achieve their rights across borders, industries and issues. In contrast to traditional farmworker organizations dominated by male labor leaders, J4MW also centers women’s issues and works through education, public awareness and advocacy to ensure that all migrant workers are guaranteed human and civil rights, including the freedom of mobility, the ability to live and work with dignity, and the right to be free of threats of violence against them and their families.
